At this time next week I will hopefully be about 13 hours into the 20 hour drive from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Chapel Hill, North Carolina and getting about ready to find a hotel room for the night.
In other news, when Megan, Beckett's owner (I realize this isn't her name, but I just failed an astronomy final, I am entitled to a momentary vocabulary lapse), and I took Buzz and Beckett to Como Lake, BO (Beckett's Owner, not body odor...though it looks like a place: Como Lake, BO...HA!) was telling be about using dog calming CDs when going to new places to help the dog acclimate. And since I plan on moving Frodo back home to Bloomsburg, then Bloomsburg to another place in PA (more on this later), then from there to Minneapolis, I decided it would be a good idea to get started on this. Not to mention that we are going to be staying in a hotel on the way out and will probably stay in a hotel in PA at some point this summer as a dry run.
Which means...Amazon shopping extravaganza!!!
Here's the stash, it should be waiting for me in PA when I get there:
On Talking Terms with Dogs: Calming Signals
By Turid Rugaas
(I've heard great things about this book and I do often have trouble reading the calming signals that dogs are showing me, so I figure it can't hurt to actually buy the book, so I did.)
These next two purchases were purely to get the free shipping :p
A medium classic red KONG!
(I already own at least 2 of these, it's a staple for pretty much any dog owner, but there is no guarantee my mom hasn't thrown them out since I left so I played it safe. Because I couldn't have just filled up his Tug-a-Jug or his squirrel or one of the 12 other interactive toys he has until I ran out to get a new KONG. Whatevs.)
And a Triple Crown dog clicker.
(Another item that should still be at home, but who knows. I <3 this clicker, it is super loud so I can use it in noisy situations and I don't have to worry about Frodo not hearing it. Plus it is the one I have been using for him since he was tiny.)
Voila, FREE SHIPPING!

Now that I am done with that I forgot what else I had planned on saying. Other than the living situation. I can talk about that.
So when I go home next week I will be staying in Bloomsburg with my mom. Bloomsburg sucks for reactive dogs. People leave their dogs in fenced yards all day, they leave dogs out on tie out and heck, sometimes they just leave them out with nothing keeping them from the streets, Frodo and I. Plus, almost every dog I have ever walked past in Bloomsburg has been dog reactive to some degree, even if it's just OMG I need to say HAIIIII! *bark bark bark*! That doesn't go over well when I am trying to make my own reactive dog feel safe and secure around other dogs.
Sooo in early June, a few weeks after I get home my mom is planning on moving to the middle of nowhere with her boyfriend. On a hobby sheep farm. With a Border Collie. And cats. Located about an hour from my work.
The other option is for me to move in with my grandparents, out in the middle of nowhere. On a horse farm. With barn cats. Located about 15 minutes from my work.
There are pros and cons for both situations, neither is ideal but it doesn't look like I am going to be allowed to stay in Bloomsburg for the whole summer like I wanted to. We will see what begging and pleading gets me. I'm sure you'll all hear tons more about this when it gets closer to choosing time.
I think that's all!

You know you can spend the night here right? You don't have to get a hotel lol. We'll have an empty room since the roommate is moving out on Monday.
Thanks for the offer but in order to get there I would have to drive 20 hours straight, and I'm not sure I am capable of driving that long without falling asleep. Depending on how far I still have to drive on Tuesday would the offer still stand for Tuesday into Wednesday?
Of course. I actually was thinking you meant Tuesday-Wednesday, I wouldn't want you to drive 20 hours either!
That would be awesome. Is there a certain time I should get there? Or is there any time you are not going to be home during the day so I can plan on how far I need to be by Monday night?
I'm out of school and currently don't have a normal day job so you're welcome whenever you can get here :)
